Chiropractic, restores your body, Naturally!

Practitioner providing chiropractic care to support musculoskeletal mobility and posture

What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is a registered health profession focused on assessing and managing musculoskeletal conditions, especially those involving the spine. Chiropractic care is used to support joint function, mobility, and overall musculoskeletal health.

Our chiropractors at Naturally Balanced Chiropractic use a variety of hands-on techniques, such as spinal adjustments, joint mobilisation, soft tissue therapy, and rehabilitative exercises, and tailor your care based on your needs and preferences.

What is your Musculoskeletal System?

Your musculoskeletal system includes your bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues.

These structures work together to support your posture, movement, and daily activity.

Your nervous system plays an essential role in controlling the functions of the musculoskeletal system and it helps to coordinate the communication between your brain, spine, and body.

Understanding the Nervous System

The nervous system is a complex communication network that regulates and coordinates your body’s functions. It plays a key role in movement, memory, sensation, speech, vision, breathing, digestion, and more. By transmitting signals between the brain and body, the nervous system helps maintain overall health and function.

The Structure of the Nervous System

The nervous system is made up of two main parts:
• The Central Nervous System (CNS): The brain and spinal cord.
• The Peripheral Nervous System (PNS): Nerves that branch out to muscles, joints, skin, and organs.

How do the Nervous System and Musculoskeletal System Work Together?

These systems are deeply interconnected. When you decide to move, the central nervous system, which acts as the body’s control centre, sends signals from the brain, via the nerves, through the spinal cord, to tell the relevant muscles to contract or relax. The muscles pull on the joints which results in your body being able to respond and move, allowing actions like walking, talking, and simple reflexes to take place.

What Do Our Chiropractors Assess During Care?

During your appointment, we assess joint mobility, posture, movement patterns, reflexes, and muscle tone. Using clinical reasoning and evidence-informed approaches, we create care plans designed to support your musculoskeletal health.

Whether you’re managing discomfort or working toward better function, each session is shaped around your unique needs and goals.

Chiropractic Adjustments: What to Expect

A chiropractic adjustment is a manual technique used to help restore motion, ease pressure on nerves, and support your body’s natural function. It is often directed to your spine, but it can be applied to any joint in your body.

Our chiropractors apply a quick, controlled force to the affected joint using their hands or with a specialised tool. You might hear a “click” or “pop” – this is just gas being released from the joint, like when you crack your knuckles. It’s not bones shifting, and it’s usually not painful.

At Naturally Balanced Chiropractic, we may use two manual adjusting techniques:

Diversified Technique – Hands-on adjustments applied to joints in specific set-up positions

Drop-Piece Technique – A specialised table-assisted approach used to perform the manipulation.

Can I have Chiropractic Care If I Don’t Want A Manual Adjustment?

Yes, you absolutely can! Not everyone needs or wants high-velocity manual adjustments. Chiropractic care can be adapted to your comfort and clinical presentation.

What Does a Session Look Like Without Manual Adjustments?

For infants, children, older adults, or anyone who prefers a gentler approach, we use low-force techniques that support joint and muscle function without strong manual pressure.
